Over recent years Vivo has come up with concept phones that have pushed the boundaries of smartphone designs. They were the first to push a concept of in-screen fingerprint sensors, pop up cameras and no port smartphone. This time Vivo has unveiled a smartphone with integrated gimbal technology for those super steady videos you crave for. Vivo are marketing this phone as their “professional photography flagship”, the Vivo X50 Pro will be the first gimbal phone available to the western market.

According to the company, the system has a 300% increase in performance over more traditional stabilisation technology such as optical and electronic stabilisation which are available in majority flagship phones. The main camera is a 48-megapixel that comes equipped with the gimbal system as well as optical and electronic image stabilisation. The X50 Pro also comes equipped with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, 13- megapixel portrait telephoto lens and an 8-megapixel periscope lens. The camera setup allows the X50 Pro to have 60X zoom. The X50 Pro comes with a 32-megapixel front camera for those selfies.
Internal Specs
The Vivo X50 Pro comes with a 6.56 FHD AMOLED curved display with a 90hz refresh rate. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G and comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The X50 Pro is 5G enabled so you are future-proofed for 5G when it becomes available in your area. The whole smartphone is powered by a 4,315 mAH battery with fast charge, allowing you to charge from a dead battery to nearly 60% in just 15 minutes.
Summary
The Vivo X50 Pro provides a perfect glimpse of the gimbal technology and future innovation of smartphone camera technology. The gimbal technology will make a great improvement in image stabilisation in a smartphone and takes smartphones closer to the professional level of photography. Hopefully, the technology filters down to other manufacturers and we will see the technology feature in other flagships.
