Microsoft Build 2019
Microsoft has announced many projects that are in development to improve collaboration and to streamline the work process to make it easier for businesses to operate more efficiently.
Azure Speech Service
Microsoft has developed a new speech recognition system that will be able to recognise the complex and local jargon, the software will transcribe as well as identify who is speaking. The transcription software will be useful for companies that deal will a lot of complex jargon which traditional speech recognition will struggle with and the end product will be useful for later reference.
Personal Assistant
Microsoft has further enhanced the personal assistant by making the assistant more open that can perform multiple tasks from one command that will normally require individual commands to trigger an action. In the demo, Microsoft demonstrated how efficient an open, multi-platform assistant can be to help us organise our day. This allows more dialogue that is more complex with the assistant as it will identify multiple actions without prompting.
HoloLens 2 Spatial App
Microsoft demonstrated a spatial app that can be used in meetings to display content and allow other people in another location to collaborate and interact with developing products. The app not only allows AR compatibility with HoloLens 2 but individuals that do not own a HaloLens 2 can also interact via a laptop, desktop or even a mobile.
Microsoft Edge
Microsoft Edge can now be more customisable, which will allow an organisation to customise the layout and show recommended documents or recently opened documents. The Microsoft Edge search is able to pull results from your organisation from holiday forms to booking a meeting room. When opening documents such as word or excel documents, Edge will open the document in the same browser tab. Users will no longer be required to save and then open the document in excel. Microsoft has stepped up Microsoft Edge’s privacy controls allowing users further controls over cookies, saved passwords, history and many more. Another enhanced feature is that Edge allows consolidating your research in the sidebar. Enabling users, to drag and drop content from sites and consolidate all the research into one before sharing it via excel, word or email. The feature also allows you to consolidate products there and then so you can export to excel to compare prices. Excel will also organise and categorise the products for easy comparison.
